Setup
Connecting ChatGPT
ChatGPT reaches your business tools through the same profile endpoint Claude uses. You add it once as a custom connector, sign in with your FloConnector account, and the profile's tools become available in your chats. The endpoint is not written for any one client, which is why the same URL serves both.
The steps mirror the walkthrough in the docs, which is the source of truth if OpenAI moves a menu.

- Choose to add a custom connector or MCP server.
- Name it something you will recognise and paste your profile endpoint as the server URL.
- Save. ChatGPT sends you to the FloConnector sign-in page to authorise it.
- Sign in with the email on your FloConnector account and approve access to the profile.

Most MCP write-ups stop at the happy path. These are the things that genuinely catch people out with ChatGPT.
You cannot find where to add a custom connector
Custom MCP connectors are a paid-plan feature in ChatGPT, and OpenAI has moved the setting more than once while rolling it out. Check that your plan includes connectors and that any developer or beta toggle is switched on for your account.
ChatGPT ignores the tools in a conversation
Depending on your version you may have to pick the connector for that conversation rather than relying on ChatGPT to reach for it. Enable it, then ask for something the profile actually covers.
A large profile is slow to load
Split it. A profile exposing hundreds of tools is slower for any client to load and gives the model more choices than it handles well. Two focused profiles beat one exhaustive one.

Does ChatGPT support MCP?
Yes. ChatGPT supports custom connectors backed by MCP servers on its paid plans. FloConnector is a hosted MCP server, so you point ChatGPT at a URL rather than running anything yourself.
Can I use the same connection in ChatGPT and Claude?
Yes. A profile endpoint is a standard MCP server, not a client-specific integration, so the same URL works in both. You authorise each client once.
Does ChatGPT see my credentials?
No. FloConnector stores each vendor credential encrypted and makes the calls itself. The client sees tools and results, never the credential behind them.
Can I stop it changing anything?
Yes. Switch the write tools off in the profile and the connection is read-only.
